I had a fantastic day out at Bempton on Thursday. I went in hope that the recently reported eastern crowned warbler would hang around. It was quite elusive at first, but as the sun rose and shone more onto the hederow it was feeding on it became more showy.
It was interesting to see it flycatching and then using a branch as a'killing post' similar to a kingfisher with a fish.
Lots of birds around including a bluethroat, greenish warbler and an arctic warbler.
All in all a superb day.
